Ways to Engage

Donate a Memorial

Memorials

There are many ways to remember your loved one with the OTCF: as a charitable gift via the Book of Memories or in a Scholarship bearing your loved one's name (some restrictions apply). Book of Memories is an historic collection of memorials to local residents, which is displayed at various locations throughout the community.  The Book of Memories is also referred to as “Prepaid Memorials.”

Love your community? What better way to honor your loved one, a business colleague or client, than to make a memorial gift to the Oregon Trail Community Foundation in their honor. Your gift to OTCF will help fund community grants that help make our community a great place to live now and well into the future.

Your business, or you personally, may send OTCF a lump sum check (i.e. $200 to $400.00). You or your company’s account is credited with this amount, and you or your company will receive the required IRS tax letter acknowledging your donation. On the occasion that someone you know passes on, simply fill out the “Book of Memories” form (see link below).

Or you may add a name to the Book of Memories via a hardcopy: download and print the form below, then fill it out and return it along with a minimum donation of $20 to:

Oregon Trail Community Foundation
PO Box 1344
Scottsbluff, NE 69361

You may select the amount you wish to donate (a minimum of $20.00 is recommended). The card has an area in which you can designate who is to receive an acknowledgement of the donation. We then send a card to the family, advising them you or your company has made a donation in honor of their loved one and he/she will be inscribed in the Book of Memory. The amount is not disclosed.

Benefits

The Book of Memory is a unique and wonderful way to remember someone who has been important in your life. Your donation is shared with the community through the many financial vehicles OTCF provides, thereby creating a lasting legacy for future generations.

  • It offers an alternative to spending money on flowers (an average of $30- $50) that do not last.
  • It saves time for you, or your secretary, in buying and sending a card, since OTCF provides that service for you.
  • An occasional lump sum check can save time and bookkeeping compared with writing twenty, $20 checks equaling the same $400.00.
  • It simplifies your tax records with an IRS letter and itemized list.
  • It makes customers and friends feel appreciated and important

What is the Book of Memory?

The Oregon Trail Community Foundation’s Book of Memory is a wonderful way to remember someone who has been important in your life, or the life of a friend or business associate. With a minimum donation of $20.00, entries will be recorded in this historic book as a memorial to the deceased.

The book is currently on display at:

Bridgman Funeral Home,
2104 Broadway,
Scottsbluff, NE

Once you fill out and send the ‘Book of Memories Form’ along with your tax-deductible gift, the Foundation will send the family of the deceased a letter informing them of your memorial donation (the amount will not be mentioned) and that their loved one’s name will be entered into the Book of Memory. It will also tell them where the Book is displayed.

Please print and return the donation form (see right sidebar) if you would like to add someone to the Book of Memory. A minimum donation of $20.00 is recommended.
